Personal records of David Watts. No issue from marriage. Joined the Army approx. 1930 at Aldershot into RASC as a driver. Signed on for 30 years. Went to France in 1939 a Corporal, got out at Dunkirk a Staff Sergeant and was immediately sent to OTS because he was a Regular. Finished the war a Major and was reverted to Captain. 1951 he was once again a Major stationed in Tripoli. Completed his 30th year a Luit-Colonel, the Adjutant of Edinburgh Castle. He continued to work in civvie street until mandatory retirement age. Moved from Shirley, Croydon to Braunton, Devon after his wife died, probably to be closer to his sisters. According to a letter from his Step Daughter Margaret Hind, he had had a fall some weeks before his death, survived the operation but succumed to an infection at 09h45 on 11th February 1993. Marriage Register = Vol 2A page1302 Death date: Confirmed in Official letter from Reverand Prebendiary Roger Reeve, of St. Bannocks, Braunton, Executor of his will. According to his wishes he was cremated and the ashes distributed in St, Bannock's garden with NO memorial.
